Interview with Beth Miller: Event Director
Beth may be the Event Director at NanBop now, but she is no beginner to them. Beth’s event roots go all the way back to age 17, when she was somehow balancing three jobs at once — catering at Kodiaks, working weddings and events at McGuire’s Resort, and planning midnight movie premiere parties at Cadillac 4 Theater. She’s been moving fast and making things happen ever since. After 20 years in the events world, most recently spending 5 years at the Chamber of Commerce producing 50+ events a year, ranging from intimate community gatherings to productions with 1,000+ attendees, it’s safe to say she knows how to get things done.
Q: What’s your favorite item in our CSA:
A: Zucchini. I would eat zucchini and steak every day for the rest of my life and be happy. Eggs come a close second.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working on the farm?
A: Everything?! I love being outdoors and having the chickens and goats wander around while we are working. I love learning more and more every day about what we are building here.
Q: What’s the best part of helping a couple plan their wedding day?
A: Being able to ease the stress for them. NanBop offers flexibility for each couple to create their own space and vision, and being able to ease their anxiety because we offer flexibility is everything for your big day.
Q: What bridal trends are you seeing NanBop couples skip or save?
A: Mother Nature is a pretty great decorator. More and more of our couples are realizing they don't need to fill every inch of a venue with "stuff." They let the farm do its thing and focus on the details that make people laugh, cry, reminisce, and stay a little longer.
Q: Where’s your favorite place to spend a day in Northern Michigan?
A: The Lake or the trails.
Q: How would your friends describe you in three words?
A: Driven, Intentional, Spirited
Q: What three words would you use to describe NanBop?
A: Welcoming. Rooted. Inspiring
