Backyard Farming Basics

Join Jason at NanBop Farm for Backyard Farming Basics—a foundational, approachable workshop designed for anyone ready to start gardening or small-scale farming at home. No experience required!

This session is the first of a three-part beginner series created to help new growers build confidence, develop practical skills, and begin their sustainable farming journey. The full series includes:

  • Workshop 1: Backyard Farming Basics on Tuesday, March 10, 5-6:30 PM

  • Workshop 2: Growing in the North: Urban Agriculture & Sustainable Farming on Tuesday, April 7, 5-6:30 PM

  • Workshop 3: Backyard Chickens & Natural Pest Control: A Guide to Sustainable Poultry Keeping on Tuesday, May 5, 5-6:30 PM

Participants who attend all three workshops will receive 20% off a full or half-share CSA at NanBop Farm as a thank-you for investing in their learning and in local agriculture.

In this foundational, confidence‑building session, you’ll learn how to make the most of your space, build healthy soil, choose easy starter crops, and avoid the most common beginner mistakes. We’ll also explore beginner-friendly backyard livestock options and simple, budget-friendly ways to start farming sustainably.
